Refrigerator Makeover

Every year, millions of Americans resolve to lose weight and/or diet.  Well, this year, my refrigerator made its own resolution and I am resolving to keep my refrigerator’s new look in tact. If you open my fridge, you will find no high fat or calorie foods. Instead, you will find carrots, strawberries, grapes, celery, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, low fat cheeses, chicken, ground chicken, meatless products….

That in and of itself should help my refrigerator maintain its goal of only supplying my family with healthy foods!

Now, I need to help my cupboard with its resolution along the same lines as a refrigerator. I am so glad ty decided to “buddy-up.” My cupboard has stated that it would like to donated all foods coming out to one of the local food pantries.

Wish them luck!

Long time… no change

I wll admit, I have not been here ina while fro the simple fact… I have haven’t even been trying. Every time I take a bite or drink a pop, I stop and think, “I don’t need this” but I do it anyway. I am so disappointed in myself. I cannot use my busy life as an excuse, but I feel every time I make a new buddy I let them down as I do not have time be on here very much. I am not ignoring anyone. I have joined the challenges in the past, but have failed with those too. When I do post I dont really feel like part of the group.I am out of the loopsince I have limited time to be on here. I always feel that Loosing weight is for me, it doesn’t have to be with others, but it sure does help.

OKay, enough whining… I just needed to do it and get it off my chest. I usually will start a diet the minute I feel like it. No need to wait. If you are going to do it, DO IT. Well, I am all about lifestyle changes. I have been changing many different facets of my life lately. The only part lacking is my eating habits. I have been doing some reading and now I hve made a decision about a change that will fit my family’s lifestyle. I am going to follow the Cheat To Lose. The concept being, everyone cheat occassionaly. YOu eat healthy Monday through Friday. From Saturday at 9 a.m. to Sunday at 9 p.m. you cheat. Do not overstuff or go overboard, but enjoy things would not enjoy on a “diet”. Let’s face it. When do we have birthday cakes, parties, an occassional drink? On the weekends. To me, it makes sense. For my family, it will work. Or at least that is the plan….

Wish me luck!

I AM BACK!! (HI JAGS!!!)

NYC was great. I had fun, spent time with old friends, and ate not as bad as I thought I would. I actually maintained while I was there.

rn

As?of Monday, I am back on track. I actually cleaned out my cupbaords and removed two full, heavy paper sacks full of stuff we do not eat or we do not NEED to eat. My husband and I, mostly me, made a menu for the week. So far, we are sticking to it. The kids have grumbled a little, but they will survive. We are being a littel more meatless at our house though. The only meat ate in our house yesterday was on the turkey sandwich I had for lunch with the broiled tomatoes (I will have to share the recipe, it’s delicious!). We had Boca Chik’n patties for supper with carrots and string cheese and lots of H2O). The kids didn’t even know the difference. They tasted exactly like a cheap, nasty chicken patty. My kids like Boca anyway. I do not think they would have put up much of a fight though, if any.

rn

I have lost 3.2 since Monday. Probably ‘water weight’, but I still need to slow down. The thing with me is when I do watch what I eat, the pounds literally fall off without exercise. I am adding my treadmill back in next week. I am getting re-adjusted to my eating this week then I will get into my exercise. My husband is frustrated as he is not losing any yet and we are eating the same thing. I wanted to tell that his canned ham sandwich he took to work last nigth is not very beneficial to his loss. He works swing shift and is on graveyards. His meals are hard for him when on this shift. I have to stress to him that college footbal was 12 years ago. He does not have 20 hours a day to workout anymore!!! MEN!!

rn

Long story short, I am back and ready for action and that is the whole point, right???

Grilled Chicken

I am looking for a tasty recipe for boneless grilled chicken breasts. Anyone have anything to share?? I am tired of the 30 minute marinades all of the time.

PCOS

I am looking to find others onthis site that are also PCOS women. I woud like to start a support group via buddyslim.com so that we can share different things that work, new studies and aany information we may have.

FYI on PCOS

rn

P.C.O.S. - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

rn

(also referred to as Polycystic Ovarian Disease)

rn

I was diagnosed in February 2005 (was pushing for my dx long, long before that). I am currently on 2000mg metformin, 150mg spironolactone daily, and? a women’s mutli-vitamin.

rn

One out TEN women are said to have POCS. Most go undiagnosed for years (as I did). When they do suspect PCOS, it may take may doctors before?you finally get a diagnosis.

rn

It can cause weight gain or you may already be over weight. You may not gain anything at all. It can elevate androgens (like testosterone) causing facial or body hair and male-pattern baldness. You may infertility problems; irregular mensus…. There are many different symptoms varying from person to person. This is one of the reasons it so hard to diagnose. For more information please go to www.pcossupport.com A very informative link.

rn

Please let me know if you are interested in joining a buddyslim.com support group for PCOS women.

A Plan of Action

It seems I am running so hard all week long that my plans go awry. You see, I get out of class at 11:20 a.m. and have to be to work A.S.A.P. My plan is usually stopping by Subway or the local grocery for a wrap or grilled sandwich. At the grocery store on Sunday, I found on the luncheon mets section, Hillshire Farms now has a salad kit. It includes ham, turkey or both, cheese, dressing, and croutons. You add the lettuce. I bought. I took about one and one-half hour to eat at my desk while working. I had some yogurt when i got hoem from work then ate a minimal supper. Yesterday, i was on the run with no plan of action. I grabbed a grilled sandwich (half of which is still in teh fridge here at work). A vendor had bought pizza. I had a small slice of thin crust canadian bacon and saurkraut. This morning I was ready. I packed a bag of organic mixed greens, .25 cup of 2% cheddar, and two slices of turkey luncheon meat chopped. I have my light dressing here at work. I will munch on that and some tomatoes.

rn

Lunch is my worst meal of the day. If I have a plan of action ever day, I will be FINE!

Start spreading the news… I’m leaving May 9… NY, NY

OK, so the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference was this week. We were in Des Moines. Snowed in to be exact. I had every intention of making vital use of the fitness room. So did my friend Terri. We both came to realize, shoes with heels would not be condusive to the fitness equipment. We both forgot our tennis shoes. We did get some time in the pool though.

rn

Since we were under a travel advisory, they closed down the college at 11 a.m. I sacrificed my laptop to the make-shift computer lab at the hotel. No internet for Teresa. That is why I have been incommunicado.

rn

Food choices great, but I did my best with what I had to work with. I had also packed some food of my own so that helped.

rn

I placed in two of three events I competed in. You can read more about my accomplishments this week in my bulletin. The short  of it is, I AM GOING TO NYC, BABY!!!!!!!!

rn

Three of us made pact to lose before NYC. I have ten weeks. My goal is 20 pounds, but I would be satisfied with 15. NEW MINI GOAL!!!

I am proud of myself

For those of you who didn’t read my ealier blog, I am one pound away from my mini goal of 253 (down nine pounds since I joined the site).

rn

So after my new weight loss, I felt refreshed. I was going shopping with my mom. I knew we would go out to eat. As I mentioned in my earlier blog, my mom is a health nut. So after walking the mall and buying clothes FOR MY KIDS BECAUSE I AM TOO PICKY, we headed to Olive Garden. I know I could have made better choices, but I didn’t do too bad. I ate 2.5 plates of salad, two breadsticks, and three stuffed mushrooms. Now, I know the mushrooms were covered in in grease, but I only ate three and brought the rest home for hubby!

rn

I walked about 4 hours today shopping!!

rn

I am starting to get hungry now, but I am feeling so I know I will make healthy choices.
